Year: 1970
Duration: 01:26:37
Directed by: Jesus Franco
Actors: Maria Rohm, Marie Liljedahl, Jack Taylor, Christopher Lee
Language: English
Country: Spain | West Germany
Also known as: Eugenie, Evgenia, Philosophy in the Boudoir, The Story of Her Journey Into Perversion, De Sade 70
Description: Eugenie was an attempt to
update and film de Sade's explicit work without it resulting in mere
pornography - according to Franco it is meant to be an adult fairy tale
and fantasy. Towers' script is strong, though not without flaws, and the
direction arguably lifts the film, giving it a very dream-like
atmosphere and artistic feel. Franco has referred to 'Eugenie' as the
film of his that he hates the least, and it may well be considered one
of his best.
